Moving Day and the Family of Tibby
Whew, moving is hard work. The Vietnamese movers were more interested in sitting around and smoking than actually moving things. So Anne, Pete, the boys and I did a lot.
My room is fabby fab fabulous. It has a ton of shelves, enabling me to devote one whole shelf to my giant book of RENT. It's a wonderful altar to my most recent and ongoing obsession. Haha.
The only bummer about the new house is the family of rats in the front garden. Soleil and I were outside yesterday just hanging out. At that point, we still believed there to be only one rat. I had named her Tibby. Don't ask. It's a rat-like name okay?! Anyway, we were watching Tibby race around when suddenly I grabbed Sol's arm, shushed him, and pointed slowly to a far corner of the garden wall where we saw Tibby...and her husband. We kept a silent watch for the next few minutes, counting those two, then three, four and five rats. I called Anne on my cell. "Guess what? Tibby has a family!" Ick. So now we are making super sure to keep everything as clean as is humanly possible for a family of seven.
Ooooh, another bummer. My air conditioning talks . Last night it kept up a steady drip and then a weird, loud, plastic ticking plastic sound. Agh. That was no fun. And then I woke up at like, three in the morning absolutley FREEZING. Trust me when I say that hasn't happened since I stepped off the plane in Taiwan. I wrapped up in my robe and peace frog pants. I looked for my No day but Today shirt, but I couldn't locate it in the dark.
Hmm...what else? Oh. I am meeting a girl from school, Taylor, today in Anne's class room, and she's going to help with my Spanish homework. In theory. Actually, I found out that she lived in a Spanish speaking country for several years and she has trouble with this guy's class. Eheh, fun stuff.
Alright, I'll let you get back to your life now. Thanks for tuning in. Hilly out.
VIVA LA VIE BOHEME!

Hey you, stranger!!
Please kiss Anne right on her cheek, long and hard for me. And then 1 on the nose. No, make it 3 on the nose!! Tis' a handy thing to have such a friend with keys to the kingdom.....just when I needed to hear from you most!
Boots and I received our emails. We both thank you. He gave that 'feed me now or I'm leaving home' look (as if!). I'm fairly certain it's applicable to both, food and thanks-for-the-email, that is.
OK, enough about cats. Moving on to RATS!! How GROSS!!! One does not name a rat (the only exception up to this point apparently, is, of course, Templeton...Charlotte's Web). Naming a rat implies expected longevity, even some sort of rapport. hmmmm. Do the Vietnamese view/know something different about rats that we Americans do not? I'm attempting to be curious rather than merely mortified. Work w/ me.
Glad to know you're using the cell phone (to converse about RATS!!!). Also glad that you and Taylor are becoming chums, yes?!
I'm sure glad Anne had the presence of mind to make you write (not to mention having the key) because, I gotta tell ya'....Robert was getting a bit concerned w/ the lack of upkeep on the blogspot. He and Alex check daily. Got that! DAILY. They are right there w/ you. Right on the back of the moped! So, as they say in West by God Virginia....'Git er' done!' (I can't believe I just quoted that)
Your room sounds wonderful! Now take some pics and SEND THEM. Lots of pics...of everything (no, not 'Tibby' and her constituants), just everything else.
I adore you.........I can feel how happy you are!!
Hi Sweet Hilly, It's great getting your blogs again. I was going to email you back but your Mom is twisting my arm and making me respond by comment (she's at the end of my other phone waiting for me to complete this -talk about pressure!) It's great that you're in your new house and making VERY IMPORTANT decisions about Spanish. I have the UTMOST confidence in your ability to choose and in your brain power. 'Nuff said. I love you and am so happy you sound so great. I'll probably do future communications by email. Love from Grampy and me.
Hiya!
Boy. Sounds much more interesting than Dub-Vee. I had that mondo swim meet yesterday. It was pretty kick-arse. I think I got two ribbons, one for a Breaststroke relay and the other for a 400 IM relay. WOOT! My team got 6th in both, so we'll see.
Your mom cracks me up.
That's all for here!
